Brief description and main aims
Columbus Orphanage consists of a school and a home. There are about 250 pupils in the school, of whom about 165 are orphans. Some of them stay with foster families while about 50 kids live in the premises of the orphanage. There are three dormitories and a common room that is used for homework and playing. There are about 15 staff currently employed.

Main Activities
  • To relieve the anxiety of enquirers, by assuring them of our concern and the full support of our service.
  • Provide basic education for the children.

  • Volunteer tasks
  • Making sure that the children take their meals during break
  • Teach them Mathematics, Art Work and Painting, storytelling and engaging them in sporting activities.

    Volunteer requirements / Skills
    The Organization has no special requirements for volunteers. However volunteer who have passion to support development of orphans are welcome. Preferably, volunteers should be able to interact in English

    Location
    Meduma, Kumasi Ashanti Region.

    Hosting Situation (Board & Lodging)
    The project would provide accommodation for the volunteers; this can be either host family or live on the project. Volunteers should be informed that they would be sharing room with other volunteers. The project in collaboration with ICYE GHANA Will make provision for feeding during their stay.

    How we work at ICYE GHANA

    ICYE is a Federation of Full and Associate Member National Committees. National Committees are autonomous. They develop and run the program according to the needs of the youth of their countries, and following policies and guidelines prepared and adopted by the General Assembly of the Federation.
